Timeline

1893 - Built by the Convalmore-Glenlivet Distillery Co.. The Elgin Courant newspaper announced that "Its situation (close to the railway and within a mile of the town of Dufftown) is most convenient and central and will safe considerable time and money in cartage ... the natural contour of the ground has been largely taken advantage of.".

1905 - Bought by W.P. Lowrie & Co. of Glasgow following the recession in the whisky trade.

1906 - James Buchanan, one of the customers, acquired most of the company from Lowrie, whose business was suffering from a lack of demand for mature whiskies.

1909-1910 - Much of the distillery was destroyed by a fire. Rebuilding was started immediately including some innovations. One was a continuous still with a capacity to distil 500 gallons (2,270 litres) of wash per hour, using a similar process to that used in grain distilleries.

1915 - The continuous still was abandoned.

1925 - Distillery sold to Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL).

1930 - Transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd. (SMD).

1964-1965 - Modernized and extended to four stills.

1985 - Mothballed/closed by Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL)

1992 - The site was sold to William Grant & Sons for warehousing capacity.
